“Israel Lobby Controls Australian Foreign Policy”—Former Foreign Minister Bob Carr

Australian Jewish leaders slam allegations of Zionist lobbying
Ha'aretz
SYDNEY, Australia — Jewish leaders are fuming over explosive allegations by Australia’s former foreign minister that the “hard-line” pro-Israel lobby in Melbourne wielded “extraordinary influence” on Middle East policy during Julia Gillard’s tenure as prime minister.
In his new book, “Diary of a Foreign Minister,” Bob Carr accuses Gillard of “subcontracting our foreign policy to party donors” and slams “extreme right-wing” pro-Israel lobbyists who had an “unhealthy” influence on Australia’s policy on Israel and Palestine.
In particular, he refers to his showdown with Gillard over the November 2012 United Nations vote on upgrading the status of Palestine. Gillard wanted to oppose the motion; Carr galvanized the party room and, together with Labor members of Parliament, forced the prime minister to back down despite lobbying from Jewish and Zionist groups.
“I had to resist it, and my book tells the story of that resistance, coming to a climax when there was a dispute on the floor of caucus about my recommendation that we don’t block the Palestinian bid for increased non-state status at the United Nations,” Carr told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation this week. “[It] was being inappropriately and bullyingly exercised in the government,” he said.
“It needed to be resisted so I resisted and I am proud to have done that.”
Carr was foreign minister from March 2012 to October 2013, at the tail end of a period of turbulent relations between the Australian Labor Party and the Jewish community. These relations soured soon after Kevin Rudd won office in 2007.
Australia expelled Israel’s Mossad chief in Canberra in 2010 after fraudulent Australian passports were used in the assassination of senior Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai. Carr continued Australia’s shift away from automatic support of Israel at the UN and incensed Jewish leaders by making several statements branding all Israeli settlements “illegal.”
“Bob Carr’s suggestion that there has been anything untoward in the way Jewish community organizations have conducted their advocacy, as we do openly in a democracy like many other organizations including Palestinian advocacy groups, is as bizarre as it is misconceived,” said Robert Goot, president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, adding, “It is ludicrous and insulting to [former PM Julia Gillard and other politicians] to suggest that they can be manipulated or bought.”
Albert Dadon, who took both Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd on trips to Israel before they became Labor prime ministers, also criticized Carr’s claims.
“The reality can be closely scrutinized for everyone to see: There’s not much money provided,” said Dadon, who hosted high-profile Labor gatherings before Australia’s 2007 and 2010 elections.” Australian politicians are influenced by the strength of the argument, which is to their credit. “When it comes to the Jewish people and Israel, [Carr] made up his mind a long time ago,” Dadon said, adding, “Mr. Carr has a huge self-worth about his own opinion and he seems upset that the Melbourne Jewish leadership don’t agree on what constitutes the best interest of Australia.”
Dr. Danny Lamm, the new president of the Zionist Federation of Australia, also had harsh words for the former foreign minister. “His willingness to publicly slur supporters of Israel with the age-old canard of undue Jewish influence in political affairs and to breach cabinet and personal confidences is not only wrong in principle but is sadly indicative of his true nature,” Lamm said.
In his book, Carr turns the blowtorch on Mark Leibler, a high-profile power broker who chairs the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council. He recalls a meeting with Leibler before Carr was to address some 40 high-profile Jewish leaders at a breakfast Leibler hosted in April 2013. Carr claimed Leibler vented on him in a “‘how dare you’ tone” about abstaining on the Palestine vote at the UN and his handling of the “Prisoner X” affair.
“Why can’t he and the lobby understand that their take-no-prisoners approach does their cause immense harm,” Carr writes.
“I think the great mistake of the pro-Israel lobby in Melbourne is to express an extreme right-wing Israeli view rather than a more tolerant liberal Israeli view,” Carr said this week.
But Leibler branded Carr’s claims of an “unhealthy influence” as “a figment of his imagination.”
“How does the Jewish lobby control the prime minister? Through donations to the ALP and sending people to Israel. I mean, give me a break. Would anyone seriously accept that?’’ Leibler told ABC TV on Wednesday night. “Julia Gillard is an independent-thinking woman. She can come to her own conclusions without being influenced by the Jewish lobby,” he added.
Johnny Baker, a veteran Zionist leader, was present at Leibler’s breakfast when Carr delivered his speech.
“His claims about the disproportionate power of the Jewish lobby are akin to the notorious Walt and Mearsheimer book [“The Israel Lobby & U.S. Foreign Policy”], which many view as anti-Semitic,” he said.
Carr seems to be deliberately misconstruing the consensus view of the Jewish community, said Baker. He is president of Ameinu, the umbrella organization of Labor Zionists in Australia.
“Like many others in our community and in Israel, I am critical of the settlement enterprise and believe it to be counterproductive to Israel’s interests. I publicly voiced those sentiments at the meeting. Yet the singular and unbalanced focus on the settlements without reference to the many other obstacles to peace is where the disagreement with Carr lies.”
Colin Rubenstein, the executive director of Leibler’s the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council, said he was “puzzled and disappointed” by Carr’s claims of influence.
“The fact that some of [Gillard’s] conclusions on promoting Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation were different from Carr’s is no more evidence that she was under the influence of ‘unhealthy’ pro-Israeli lobbying than Carr’s views are evidence that he is under the ‘sway’ of Australia’s several pro-Palestinian lobby groups,” Rubenstein said. He said Carr’s allegation that AIJAC is an “extreme right-wing” organization was “bizarre,” given that both AIJAC and Carr support a two-state solution. AIJAC makes “no apologies” for making its case on the Israel-Palestine conflict, he added.
Michael Danby, a junior minister in the Labor government when Carr was foreign minister, accused Carr of being a bigot.
“No lobby in Australia, I understand, has that kind of influence. It’s laughable,’’ Danby told ABC Radio.
But Carr retorted today, emphasizing his track record of support for Israel. “I was president of Labor Friends of Israel for a long time,” he said. “As a young politician I stood on the back of a truck outside the entertainment center as part of a Jewish community protest at the Russian Ballet because of the treatment of Soviet Jews. I have spoken at Holocaust memorials.”
On November 10, 2012, just weeks before the controversial UN vote on the status of Palestine, Carr wrote in his diary: “Our stance on the Middle East is shameful, in lockstep with Likud, designed to feed the worst instincts of Israel and encourage it to self-destruct.”
He recalls he wanted to issue a statement saying he “condemns” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement of new construction in settlements, but his advisor told him he’d received advice that “any statement on settlements — even that we express ‘concern’ — is vetoed by the prime minister.”
“Subcontracting our foreign policy to party donors is what this involves, or appears to involve,” he writes.
After the prime minister backed down, Carr called U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Bleich to advise him Australia would not be siding with Israel and America. “I told him it confirmed a shift in thinking in my party — tired of Netanyahu and the bellicose right wing and sick of the spread of settlements.”
Carr wrote that his victory sent a widespread message — “to the settlers and fanatics in Israel, a message to the noble Israeli liberals and moderates, a message to a suffering West Bank population, battered and trapped, a message to the UN membership about Australia, the country they just elected to the Security Council.”
The furor is unlikely to have lasting impact on relations between the Labor Party and Jewish leaders, since neither Carr nor Gillard are in the party, or even in parliament. Moreover, Labor leader Bill Shorten wooed Jewish leaders last week when he addressed the Zionist Federation of Australia.
And it is unlikely to affect bilateral relations between Canberra and Jerusalem since Prime Minister Tony Abbott is an unashamed and unapologetic supporter of Israel. His Liberal Party has realigned Australia’s support for Israel at the UN.
But it has the potential to stoke anti-Israel and anti-Jewish sentiment, reaffirming stereotypes of Jewish money and influence inside the corridors of power.
Carr clashed with Jewish leaders back in 2003 when as the Premier of New South Wales he agreed to present the Sydney Peace Prize to Hanan Ashrawi, a prominent Palestinian scholar and political leader, despite a campaign to urge him to withdraw. He refused.

Israeli veteran politician says “We, the elders of Zion, pull the strings of Congress”

Beware: Republican Jews on the warpath
A campaign of intimidation is underway to stop Democratic lawmakers from skipping Netanyahu's upcoming Congress speech. God, save us from our Jews.
By Yossi Sarid    | Feb. 8, 2015 | 12:47 AM | 8
Now it’s no longer a “crisis in the relationship” that they try to paper over; now it’s no longer just “tensions with the White House” that they’re making every effort to reduce in between meetings; now, it’s an open war with the United States. It’s Sheldon Adelson versus Barack Obama, and Israel is caught in the cross-fire.
After Vice President Joe Biden, our greatest friend over there, announced an unspecified trip abroad that will prevent him from being in Congress at the fateful hour, Republican Jewish organizations launched a campaign of intimidation against those lawmakers who had already announced their intent to skip the joint session: Their political fate will be bitter.
Nothing like this has ever happened in the history of nations. Only North Korea still uses such violent language. Even tiny Cuba adopted a different style and stopped roaring like a mouse. Ambassador to Washington Ron Dermer, in the service of his master, is rallying his troops and launching a combined assault on Capitol Hill. Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to show the president once and for all who really rules in Washington, who is the landlord both here and there.
It’s easy to imagine what would have happened in eternally united Jerusalem if some such Sheldon had made similar threats from Las Vegas and Macao against our ministers and MKs: Look, if you’re absent, you’ll never see another dollar.
One Matthew Brooks – the executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, who does the will of its financial backers – explained over the weekend, “We will commit whatever resources we need to make sure that people are aware of the facts, that given the choice to stand with Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu in opposition to a nuclear Iran, they chose partisan interests and to stand with President Obama.” Mort Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, added unambiguously, “We will, of course, be publicly condemning any Democrats who don’t show up for the speech — unless they have a doctor’s note.” Doctor, this man is sick and urgently needs tranquilizers.
God, save us from our Jews; we can handle the non-Jews ourselves. How easy it is to stir up the highest institutions of democratic America, and how difficult to bomb Iran’s underground nuclear facilities. Ask the heads of your intelligence agencies, or ours, and they’ll whisper it in secret.
From Israel, the land you love so much and are so far away from, we’d like to tell you American Jews, regardless of your opinions and party affiliations – all those of you who won’t openly wash your hands of these risky gambles – that our fate is in our own hands.
Don’t play with fire that will burn us alone, or perhaps you as well: Because of your silence, you’ll be accused of dual loyalty.
Israel, which until now was a cornerstone of bipartisanship, has become loathsome to its traditional supporters. Benjamin Nitay Netanyahu, the Israeli-American, has made it into something that reeks, even among its longtime supporters.
In these very moments, the protocols are being rewritten. Rich Jews are writing them in their own handwriting. They, in their wealth, are confirming with their own signatures what anti-Semites used to slander them with in days gone by: We, the elders of Zion, pull the strings of Congress, and the congressmen are nothing but marionettes who do our will. If they don’t understand our words, they’ll understand our threats. And if in the past, we ran the show from behind the scenes, now we’re doing it openly, from center stage. And if you forget our donations, the wellspring will run dry.
Recently, two friends in Israel had a disturbing conversation: They fear that war is liable to break out at any moment between us and America. One friend cited two possibilities: In the worst case, they’ll conquer us, and we’ll become the 51st star on the flag – that would be unpleasant. True, the other said, but what happens if we conquer them? That, they agreed, would really be terrible.

German politician posts anti-Semitic video of ‘Rothschilds controlling the world’

Rothschild Influence Deep Within GOP
American Free Press
By Michael Collins Piper
Call it the “War Party,” the “New World Order” or the “Zionist Elite.” However you describe this element—with multiple ties to the Rothschild banking octopus and its predatory tentacles on American shores—its influence reaches the inner circles of key Republican presidential hopefuls who promise to save the republic from Obama’s legacy in 2016.
A reviewof those “advising” these GOP contenders indicates the same old faces are at work ensuring globalist powers will be directing the foreign policy agenda of whomever represents the GOP in the next presidential election.
Those from whom the GOP contenders are—as The Washington Post of April 6 put it—“soaking up guidance” are a disturbing lot.
War-happy internationalist Sen. John McCain (RAriz.)—whose wife’s $150 million beer fortune is owed to the patronage of the Jewish crime syndicate’s Bronfman family, longtime intimates of the Rothschild dynasty—bragged to the Post of the 2016 GOP hopefuls that “They all call, all the time” asking for advice from the failed former presidential candidate. However, McCain—who in 2008 actually raised campaign money in the London home of Lord Jacob Rothschild—was quick to assure the Post that “First, I tell them to touch base with Henry Kissinger—of course.”
That any future president would “of course” first touch base with Kissinger—long a top schemer among the New World Order elite—is of obvious concern to anyone who values national sovereignty.
But others with whom the Republican contenders are mingling are equally of concern. Rep. Paul Ryan (Wis.)—the GOP’s 2012 vice presidential candidate—huddles with his longtime associate, former Education Secretary William Bennett, a founding director of the hardline, pro-Israel, neoconservative “think tank,” Empower America, which once employed Ryan as a speechwriter, helping advance Ryan’s career in official Washington.
A protege of the ex-Trotskyite “godfather” of the neoconservatives, the late Irving Kristol—father of notorious modern-day neoconservative power broker William Kristol—Bennett and his Empower America co-founder, ex-Rep. Vin Weber (R-Minn.), remain influential in shaping Ryan’s worldview.
Today, Weber is a member of the board of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the New York affiliate of the London-based Royal Institute of International Affairs, which is often referred to as the foreign policy arm of the Rothschild dynasty.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio—whose foreign policy rhetoric becomes more bellicose and more fervently internationalist as 2016 approaches, has—according to The Washington Post—“become friendly” with Israeli-born Yuval Levin who has elsewhere been glowingly described as “probably the most influential conservative intellectual of the Obama era.”
Also turning to Levin for direction is Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. But Jindal has his own antecedents that explain, at least in part, the longtime infatuation with Jindal by the Zionist-dominated media, which was promoting his presidential ambitions long before he came on the national stage.
Like ex-President Bill Clinton—who also received inordinate media attention from the earliest years of his own career—Jindal is a former Rhodes Scholar.
He had been trained at Oxford in England in the ideology of the late Cecil Rhodes, the African diamond magnate (financed by the Rothschilds) whose scholarships were established to indoctrinate bright young Americans in the concept that the United States should be reunited with the Rothschild-controlled British empire.
Jindal has been hailed for his sharp critiques of the federal government and his advocacy of rejuvenating state sovereignty in what is hailed as the spirit of the 10th Amendment to the Constitution.
But what many patriots simply don’t know is that New World Order advocates—such as the influential Clarence K. Streit, author of the infamous globalist tract, Union Now With Britain—openly proffered that the 10th Amendment actually provided the very mechanism for dismantling the American national union so the United States could be reunited with “the Mother Country.”
Thus, those enthused by Jindal’s seeming support for states rights might well keep in mind that (in light of Jindal’s Rhodes Scholarship background) another agenda might well be at work behind the rhetoric that seems to reflect traditional Americanism.
Oh yes, Jindal also relies on neoconservative titan William Kristol for advice on foreign policy.
For his part, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whose 2012 presidential bid ended in fiasco, has kept his name in the offing by making a pilgrimage to Israel to huddle with no less than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Several years ago the pandering Perry said he relied on the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal, published by pro-Israel billionaire Rupert Murdoch, a longtime media front man for the Rothschild family, and what Perry called “the Jewish press” for his foreign policy direction.
Popular among conservatives as a union buster, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker burnishes his foreign policy expertise by relying upon counsel from Mark Thiessen, a former speechwriter for George W. Bush, whose costly Middle East wars on behalf of Israel (carried out under the direction of the neoconservatives who dominated policy under Bush) still torment America. In the same realm, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz—whose wife is an executive with the investment bank Goldman Sachs, a preeminent force in the Rothschild sphere of influence—has actually drafted Victoria C. Gardner Coates, a former aide to ex-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld (a primary architect of the disastrous Bush-erawars), as his national security advisor. A tea party favorite, Cruz—the son of a Christian Zionist minister—is particularly strident in his advocacy for a pro-war/pro-Israel agenda.
Perhaps most unexpected of all is Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s link to the Rothschild dynasty via his advisor, retired diplomat and CFR member Richard R. Burt who—prior to government service—was actually the national security correspondent for no less than The New York Times, the premier media voice of the Zionist establishment. Burt actually launched his career as assistant director of the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISI), a globally-influential London-based think tank with deep Rothschild connections.
CFR member Lynn Forester de Rothschild—wife of Lord Evelyn de Rothschild—is associated with IISI, as are—among others: Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank, a director of N.M. Rothschild & Sons; Fleur deVilliers, a consultant to the Rothschild-controlled DeBeers diamond cartel (founded by Cecil Rhodes) and Thomas Seaman who chaired the investment committee of the Rhodes Trust, which sponsors the globalist-oriented Rhodes Scholarships.
Add to this—as this newspaper has previously reported—that Paul includes billionaire Peter Thiel, chair of the American steering committee for the Rothschild-financed Bilderberg meetings, as another advisor and one finds the plutocratic linkage comes full circle in Paul’s burgeoning presidential campaign.
